I am a Licensed Esthetician recently relocated to South Florida. My passions are skin care and cosmetics.  I have more than 600 hours of training in Maryland and two years experience as a licensed esthetician. My continuing post-graduate training has been with the International Dermal Institute, where I started in Washington, DC and plan to continue at the Miami training facility. By August 1, 2009, I will be certified in microdermabrasion at the Boca Beauty Academy. I am also experienced in facial and body waxing and makeup artistry.

As for other education and experience, let’s say I have never let myself get bored. My work background spans about 40 years—I know, I’m dating myself here, but that’s okay, I started young. And for me, it’s not about age anyway. Age is just a number.

I did secretarial/administrative work for years. It was this kind of work that helped me to become a problem-solver—a transferrable skill that can be used anywhere.  I have also been a graphic designer and business consultant.

In 1994, I earned a BS degree, summa cum laude, in Management Studies and Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Maryland University College.

Education and experience are great, but they don’t define a person. There is a saying that goes like this: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” It’s one of my favorite sayings because it’s true. People can tell by body language, eye contact, etc. whether or not you are invested in what you’re doing. Well we can’t do much about body language and eye contact on a blog site, but I think as you continue to follow me, you will see that I care very deeply. In fact, here is my personal statement:

I am at my best when I am helping people to look and feel their best.

This blog site is a great, new adventure for me. I look forward to getting comments, answering questions and just making new friends who have things to teach me too.
